Dortmund chief admits ‘great, great talent’ Sancho could leave this summer

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke admits Jadon Sancho could leave the club this summer, calling him one of the best young players in the world.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed another superb season at Dortmund, also taking his tally of England caps to 11.

Sancho has been linked with a move away this summer, with Liverpool one of the sides interested in snapping him up.

Speaking to RMC Sport, with quotes cited by the Daily Mail, Watzke heaped praise on the winger, outlining his brilliance as a player:

Jadon is a great, great talent, maybe the greatest talent in Europe currently of players under the age of 21.

In my opinion, he has the potential to become one of the two or three best players in the world in the years to come.

If one day he comes to us and says that he wants to leave the club, then we’ll discuss it.

Liverpool should do all they can to sign Sancho this summer, with Watzke’s comments highlighting the potential he has.

In the present, the teenager is already arguably a world-class player, scoring 26 goals and registering 29 assists in the Bundesliga over the past two seasons.

Such is Sancho’s ceiling, however, he can become a truly elite future talent, assuming he continues to mature and improve his all-round game, which could see him become even more devastating in the final third.

While the former Manchester City star may not be an immediate starter at Liverpool, considering the quality of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, his long-term ability means he could have every chance of outlasting all three.
