Burnley manager Sean Dyche has admitted he isn’t sure what price he’d be happy to sell Dwight McNeil for this summer if a big club was to come in for him, amid reported interest from Liverpool.
Top-flight heavyweights Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are said to be interested in his services, as well as Everton and Newcastle United, but Dyche has no idea what McNeil’s value is.
Speaking to the Burnley Express, as cited by football.london, he said:
It’s a strange one, regarding his worth; I look at some of the figures bandied about for some of these young players and I don’t know what you put on him. His worth to the team I’m more interested in, and that’s the way he’s delivering performances.
The 19-year-old has burst onto the first-team scene this season, making 22 appearances for the Clarets, including 17 in the Premier League, and scoring three times.
Burnley are sat in 15th, eight points above Cardiff City in the final relegation place, and it remains to be seen whether McNeil is ready to make such a big step up.
There’s no doubting his potential though, so it’ll be interesting to see if he makes that step during the transfer window.
