Liverpool have signed a handful of young players in 2027, with Lucca Brughmans and Djylan N’guessen their most recent recruits on deadline day.
Earlier this year, the Reds agreed a deal to sign Colombian talent Samuel Martinez, who was widely hailed as one of the most wanted youngsters in world football at the time.
And now, his father, Jairo Martinez, has confirmed that the young midfielder is learning English ahead of his move, adding that he rejected over 30 clubs to move to Anfield.

“Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Barcelona, Watford, Udinese, Chelsea, Manchester United, among others, wanted him,” said Jairo via Noticias Caracol.
“Every offer that came in, we would sit down, plan, and look at which options were better than the others.
“Samuel is the one who makes the final decision, and at that moment, he chose Liverpool.”
“Samuel learned to read and write in English; he completed kindergarten, pre-kindergarten, first and second grade in the United States.
“So, he already had a very strong foundation in the language. Now he has a personal tutor with whom he studies every day so that his English becomes more fluent and he can master it perfectly,” he concluded.
