Liverpool could be about to hand manager Jürgen Klopp a major contract extension, should the club win either the Premier League or Champions League.
This in the mind of German football expert Raphael Honigstein (reported by Team Talk), who thinks the Reds will strike to secure the future of their manager, who has turned around the fortunes of the club since arriving partway through the 2015-16 season.
Inheriting a dismal scene from Brendan Rodgers, a program of successful recruitment and player development has meant Liverpool fans are in a position to dream once again, with the club challenging for trophies both domestically and in the European theatre.
However, ‘challenging’ isn’t enough. And Honigstein knows this, claiming the new deal will only come if Liverpool can win some silverware this season.

With Klopp only able to win either the Champions League or the Premier League this year, it will have to be one of those two if he is to have his contract extended.
Currently tied to Anfield through the 2021/22 season, the matter of Klopp’s status at the club isn’t really an immediate issue, however.
