Steven Gerrard is hoping to keep hold of Rangers attacker Josh McPake, with Liverpool thought to be monitoring the 17-year-old’s situation ahead of a possible summer swoop.
According to the Daily Record, cited by the Boot Room, Rangers are hoping to tie the teenager down to a new deal ahead of the new season, however, the Reds are thought to be one of three sides keeping tabs on the player.

McPake excelled for Rangers’ reserve side last season and is also attracting interest from German side Borussia Monchengladbach and Italian outfit Roma following some outstanding individual performances.
The attacker reportedly rejected a new deal at Ibrox back in March and is entering the final 12 months of his current deal.
Liverpool legend Gerrard is hoping to have McPake’s contract situation resolved as soon as possible and is willing to take the youngster with the senior side for a pre-season camp in Portugal.
However, if McPake fails to agree new terms with Rangers and has his heart set on a new challenge, Gerrard could persuade the teenager to make the move to Merseyside over Germany and Italy.
