‘Gulf’ – Stephen Warnock delivers grim Liverpool verdict after Man City thrashing

Liverpool suffered their first defeat under Andoni Iraola as they fell to a sobering 3-0 loss against Manchester City at Anfield.

Second-half goals from Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki sealed the deal for Enzo Maresca’s side as they made it count after Ryan Gravenberch’s red card.

Liverpool were the better of the two teams before the Dutchman’s dismissal, but ultimately, Manchester City made them pay with three clinical goals.

And Stephen Warnock believes the Reds are nowhere near Maresca’s side, who have now won each of their six Premier League games this season.

Stephen Warnock says Liverpool simply aren’t good enough

“It’s been a very impressive performance,” said Warnock via the BBC.

“The changes were proactive and they saw the opportunity to take the game to Liverpool.

“Liverpool aren’t anywhere near them. There’s a gulf between these teams.

“A lot of Liverpool fans have started to leave. They have seen enough and they are not happy with what they have seen.”

Gravenberch’s red card was a pivotal moment in the game.

A lot of fans and pundits would argue that his second yellow card was a bit soft, but it goes without saying that it turned out to be the turning point in the contest as City scored seconds after his dismissal.
