Last season saw Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott head out on loan to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.

The 18-year-old played a huge part in the Rovers’ season, managing an impressive 7 goals and 12 assists.

After 41 league games, Elliott gained some extremely valuable experience to bring back to the Reds.

Next season will pose an all new challenge for the teenager, one that he seems happy to relish in.

Speaking to Ranks FC, as cited by Anfield Watch Academy on Twitter, Elliott is aiming for a spot in the first-team…

It is a bold statement from Elliott, but one that will no doubt excite the Liverpool faithful.

Operating mainly on the right-wing, the main competition for the teen is none other than Mohamed Salah.

The one other player to really compete against is Sadio Mané on the left, leaving Elliott with a real task on his hands.

It is great to see the youngster aiming for a position against such fine competition.

He is clearly confident in his ability and feels he can contend in he first-team against the pair.

Of course, it will be a huge challenge given the evident star quality of Mané and Salah – but it is great to see nonetheless.

Jurgen Klopp will likely give him his fair shot of appearances and there is no doubt that Elliott will be ready for the challenge.

It seems as though his loan has done him the world of good, and it will be exciting to see what he can do next season.
