Henderson sits out of England training before Netherlands clash

According to reports from ITV, Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson sat out of training at St George’s Park as the rest of the England squad were put through their paces ahead of their final session before they fly out to Portugal for their Nations League semi-final on Thursday.

The 28-year-old Liverpool captain was a part of the team who were named champions of Europe after they beat Tottenham 2-0 in the final of the Champions League in Madrid.

After reports suggested that Henderson was sitting out of the training, question have been raised as to whether or not the midfielder is fit enough to play tomorrow night.

The player is believed to be following an induvidual training programme after a busy end to the season.

If England win against the Netherlands in Portugal they will go on to play either the hosts or Switzerland, depending on who wins in their semi-final tonight.

Henderson is a key player in England’s squad and for him to miss the semi-final could be a big blow for Gareth Southgate’s team.
