AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has provided Liverpool with an injury boost ahead of Saturday’s meeting at Anfield, with key star David Brooks set to miss out with a “strange” ankle injury.
The Reds could enter the game off the Premier League summit for the first time since October if Manchester City beat Everton on Wednesday.
Following Bournemouth’s 2-0 loss at Cardiff City at the weekend, Howe confirmed that Brooks will miss up to three weeks of action – news which may fill Liverpool supporters with a little confidence:
David injured his ankle scoring against Chelsea. It was a strange injury, he didn’t feel it kicking the ball but felt in the celebration that he injured himself. He’ll be missing for around three weeks we think.
Liverpool could have gone seven points clear with a win against Leicester City after City’s shock 2-1 defeat at Newcastle last week, but slumbered to a 1-1 draw and suffered the same fate at West Ham United on Monday night.
After full-time, Jurgen Klopp insisted that his players won’t wilt under the pressure of leading the title charge but you’ve got to question whether they’re still favourites after the happenings of the last week.
