Liverpool have agreed a new contract for highly-rated winger Jordon Ibe, reportedly worth £30,000 per week.
The contract will have Ibe’s services tied down until 2020 and The Telegraph state that the announcement will be shortly after Liverpool’s next game against Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.
The club and the 19-year-old have been in discussions for a few weeks now, but only over the last couple of days has a breakthrough in negotiations been made. Unlike the majority of football players nowadays; Ibe doesn’t have an agent. He is instead represented by his stepdad – and the negotiations could have been made smoother because of this.
Ibe has only recently broken into the Liverpool side. The winger was recalled after showing impressive form during his loan spell at Championship club, Derby County. Since his recall, Ibe has shown glimpses of his potential and the club clearly are eager to reward him for that.
Liverpool have found it somewhat difficult in negotiating new contracts for their players this season, with the likes of Steven Gerrard departing and Raheem Sterling’s future still in the pipeline. The club will be delighted with this news, though, as one of their most exciting prospects, dedicates his future to the club.
