Sheffield United defender and boyhood Liverpool fan Jack O’Connell has revealed that a possible future move to Anfield would be ‘hard to turn down’.
The 25-year-old played a key role in helping the Blades to promotion to the Premier League last season, turning out 42 times in all competitions under Chris Wilder.

O’Connell travelled to Madrid to watch Jurgen Klopp’s side lift the Champions League with a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, two teams he will face next season.
And talking to Sky Sports, cited by Anfield HQ, O’Connell addressed the Blades’ objectives for the new campaign, going on to reveal that a potential move to Liverpool in the future would be hard to turn down.
I’m guessing staying up is the main priority [for Sheffield United] but seeing Jordan Henderson lift the trophy gave me goosebumps, and I’d love it to be me one day.
Obviously I am happy at Sheffield United. I’ve just signed a new contract and I’ve never thought about leaving, but my dream as a kid was to play for Liverpool and if they ever come knocking, although unlikely, it would be hard to turn them down.
Reds boss Klopp could well be active in the market for a new central defender this summer if Dejan Lovren leaves Merseyside.
A move for O’Connell appears to be unlikely at this moment in time, however, if the Englishman can impress at Bramall Lane over the next 12 months, he may well attract interest over a possible move to his boyhood club.
