Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, who will miss tonight’s Premier League clash against Arsenal, has admitted that he and his teammates ”got excited” over the Reds’ new signings.
After the arrival of Kostas Tsimikas early in the summer, things went quiet on the arrivals front at Anfield until last weekend, when Jurgen Klopp completed a double swoop.
The Premier League champions confirmed the arrival of both Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota within 24 hours.
Henderson has spoken to the club’s official website over the mood in the dressing room following the signings and compared the reactiong of the current squad to the mood of the fans:
When Liverpool announce a new signing, we in the dressing room aren’t that much different. We get excited – we get caught up in the anticipation – we look forward to seeing them and hearing them for the first time. It does bring fresh energy and a lift.
The former Sunderland man went on to say:
All three are going to be massively important to us and we are buzzing as a team to welcome them in. We need them and we are delighted they chose to come to us.
The furore around the double signing and Thiago, in particular, was something to behold and it’s nice to see the players share the enthusiasm of the fans.
