Journalist makes claim about Liverpool completing Kabak-Origi swap deal

Liverpool have been advised to bring in Ozan Kabak for Divock Origi in a swap deal with Schalke in January, according to journalist Marc Behrenbeck on Twitter.

The Belgian has fallen completely out of favour at Anfield these days, being limited to just two late cameo appearances in the Premier League this season.

It makes increasing sense to let him go, while a centre-back addition may also be needed, with Liverpool threadbare in that department in the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

This latest report states that Schalke could trade Kabak for Origi, with the bottom-of-the-table Bundesliga side in need of a new striker.

Liverpool have been linked with Kabak in the past, with as little as €15million potentially bringing him to the club.

In many ways, this would be an ideal piece of business by the Reds, with Origi not needed anymore and a new centre-back adding depth to the squad.

Origi will always be loved for what he did back in 2018/19, when he scored memorable goals against the likes of Tottenham, Barcelona, Everton and Newcastle, but it is time for him to move on.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Kabak could be a shrewd acquisition, providing competition for Joel Matip and Fabinho, and acting as a long-term acquisition.
