According to The Guardian, Loris Karius has been offered the chance to move on loan to recently-promoted Serie C side Rimini. This comes four days after Karius was playing in the Champions League final.
The Rimini president joked that a move would be a birthday present for Karius, who turns 25 next month. Giorgio Grassi also said by joining Rimini, it would be a chance for Karius to “rediscover his serenity and self-esteem” by playing in a part of a “large family”.
There’s no disputing Karius had a torrid time in the Champions League final, with his two errors ultimately costing Liverpool’s chances of winning against Real Madrid. A move to Serie C would, however, surely be too much of a step down for the German.
When reinstated as Jurgen Klopp’s number one goalkeeper, he picked up some form and had some superb performances. However, Karius has always proven to possess the capability to commit mistakes at vital times, as exemplified in the clash in Kiev.
