Klopp claims he can’t give timeline on injured trio return

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the injury status of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Xherdan Shaqiri, claiming both are back in training however he cannot provide a timeline for their return.

Alexander-Arnold has been struggling with a back issue which caused him to withdrawn from the England squad last week, while Shaqiri didn’t link up with Switzerland due to a groin injury that kept him at Melwood.

The duo have recently returned to training, alongside defender Joe Gomez, who had also been kept out with a long-term injury after breaking his leg in December.

Talking ahead of Liverpool’s Super Sunday Premier League game against Tottenham at Anfield, talking about the returning trio, Klopp said:

Yesterday they were all in training, for all three pretty much the first full session, so we have to see how they react.

There was actually no alternative for Shaq and Trent, not being involved in the games in that period. Anything else would have been really crazy because they needed that, they needed treatment, needed rehab and all that stuff.

Joe was back yesterday after 15 weeks, what a long time, but yesterday it looked really good. Of course, it’s early stages and he is really now adapting again to proper football training after having thousands of rehab sessions.

They should all be okay, I heard nothing different this morning since I’ve been here, so they should be okay. They will train again today and then we will see.
