Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp delivered an update on the condition of Virgil van Dijk following his side’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
The Reds returned to the top of the Premier League table on Sunday evening as they overcame Mauricio Pochettino’s men to secure a narrow victory in front of their home fans.
Roberto Firmino opened the scoring before Lucas Moura levelled proceedings for the visitors in the second half. Toby Alderweireld’s own goal in stoppage time ensured that Liverpool came away with all three points.
It was a satisfying afternoon for Klopp and his side, but concerns had been raised regarding the condition of Van Dijk.

The Dutchman had appeared to be hobbling towards the end of the match following a collision with Moussa Sissoko, as he ushered the Frenchman into spurning a glorious opportunity to Tottenham 2-1 up.
Klopp, as quoted by Liverpool’s official club website, revealed that Van Dijk’s physical state is currently unknown, with the Netherlands captain walking accompanied with an ice pack at this moment in time.
The manager said:
We have to see. I asked him and I think it was in the counter-attack situation when Sissoko hit him… I don’t know if he twisted it or it is a knock. He was walking to the interviews with a big ice pack. I hope it’s nothing serious but I don’t know yet.
