Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update on Sadio Mane after the winger was taken off against Chelsea on Sunday.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, as reported by This is Anfield, the German said that Mane’s injury is not believed to be anything serious.
Sadio Mane in that situation for the free-kick got a bad knock. You could see he wasn’t really running freely. He’s OK, but we took him off, he wasn’t limping but I didn’t like how he was running.
Losing Mane would have come as a major blow to the Reds and their title aspirations, even at this early stage of the season.
He is in many people’s eyes Liverpool’s most important player, ahead of Mohamed Salah and given the club’s relative lack of depth in the final third, fans will be delighted to hear that the injury is nothing serious.
Mane is not expected to feature during the midweek clash against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup, which will will give him more time to recover ahead of the Sheffield United clash.
