Former Borussia Dortmund boss Jürgen Klopp would consider a move to the Premier League in the future, as long as he could work with a sporting director.
The revelation, made by the German’s agent, could spark interest from Liverpool, who were recently linked with him.
The 47-year-old departed Signal Igunda Park at the end of the season after an impressive seven years at the helm, but he has now suggested he will take a break from the game – in a similar manner to Pep Guardiola after his departure from Barcelona, before subsequently joining German rivals Bayern Munich.
Klopp’s agent has now suggested he would certainly be open to a move to England, in a league he believes is “very exciting”.
The news could lead the Merseyside club to push for a move for the German – with current manager Brendan Rodgers uncertain over his long-term future with the club after a shaky season.
Mark Kosicke, the manager’s agent, spoke to SPOX about a move which could see him head to Liverpool, saying: “The Premier League is very exciting, and we do not only think about the top four because there are some other great clubs below them. But I am not sure the profile of the job could work.
“In Germany there is a clear separation between manager and sporting director and I think in principle this is very good. Jürgen does not like to speak to players’ agents or to carry out a transfer. So we have to see which is the most useful arrangement.”
To add to the hopes of the Kop, Kosicke also feels his client may consider joining a club without Champions League football to their name, and could aim to build a club in a similar way to his work with Dortmund.
“It is always all about the challenge,” he added. “When Jürgen signed for Dortmund there were other clubs who had better prestige and were in better financial mood at this time. Nevertheless he decided for Dortmund.
“He has the great ability to develop things. If he goes into a stadium, feels the energy and thinks that he can make a difference here, this could be more attractive to him than going with the big deals and aim for the treble.”
Klopp lifted the Bundesliga twice in back-to-back seasons, while also finishing as runners-up in the Champions League, during his spell at Dortmund.
