Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana have both been ruled out of England’s fixtures with injuries.
The pair both took part in Liverpool’s agonising 2-1 loss to Manchester United on Sunday and both picked up knocks.
Sturridge has a reported hip injury and is to be assessed by Liverpool’s medical staff in the coming days, as the striker suffers yet another setback.
The Express say that because he completed the 90 minutes, and scored, on Sunday – that the injury is not too serious.
England took absolutely no risk with the striker and sent him home. This quick decision could have been impacted by what happened earlier in the season regarding Sturridge and injuries.
Lallana, unlike Sturridge, didn’t complete the 90 minutes and was a half-time substitute in the loss.
Like Sturridge, though, Lallana has also struggled with injuries this season and they have hugely disrupted his first season in a red shirt. This latest one is a groin problem and the amount of time he is out for is still unknown.
Sterling has been playing with a toe injury recently, say The Express, and he could be rested as Roy Hodgson doesn’t want to make the injury any worse and start a fresh feud with Liverpool.
