Adam Lallana has reportedly told friends he would welcome a return to Southampton this summer, amid fears over an unlikely future at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds have enjoyed their best season in a long time under Klopp, pushing eventual Premier League champions Manchester City to the final day after accumulating 97 points.
However, Lallana made just five league starts in the memorable campaign and, according to Express Sport, he’s ready to return to his boyhood club in search of regular game time.
Injuries have heavily affected the 31-year-old’s time at Anfield since moving from the south coast for £25million in 2014, making just 14 first-team appearances this term and 13 last.
It is thought that Liverpool will ask for in the region of £13million for Lallana and Southampton can afford him, although there are understandable concerns about his injury proneness.
Klopp may want to freshen up his squad if he wants to challenge for major honours again next season, and Lallana is one of a few stars expected to depart.
