Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski has revealed that Jurgen Klopp helped him develop as a player during his time at Borussia Dortmund.
The Bavarian club are set to face the Reds in the Champions League at the Allianz Arena next week, after drawing 0-0 at Anfield in the Round of 16 first leg last month.
While at Dortmund, the Poland striker was Klopp’s star man, and the 30-year old will need to play a key part next week if Bayern are to progress to the next round of the competition.

Speaking ahead of the crucial tie, Lewandowski spoke about Klopp’s tough approach to training during his time at Signal Iduna Park. As reported by Inside Futbol, Lewandowski said:
I remember the first six months at Dortmund, the training was very hard under Jurgen Klopp. I was very young and wanted to show everyone I could do it 110% in every training session.
After two or three months, I was very tired and could not show all my skills. It was too much for me and I needed three months lighter training to get back to form.
Despite finding the training regime difficult, Lewandowski claimed it helped him develop as a player in the long-term. Lewandowski continued:
When I think about it now, I learned a lot. After the first few months my body was ready to work harder.
Around November I scored a lot of goals and my team-mates said ‘Robert is back’, and I knew then I could show all my skills.
