Liverpool and Tottenham allowed to name 12 substitutes each in Champions League final

Liverpool and Tottenham will both be allowed to name 12 substitutes in the Champions League final on the 1st June, an increase from the seven players managers can name on the bench throughout the rest of the tournament.

UEFA introduced the rule change prior to the UEFA Super Cup at the beginning of this season, with Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid the first two sides to play with 12 substitutes on their bench under the new ruling.

And according to The Times, the rule will be enforced for both the Champions League final and Europa League final this season, with Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal all set to benefit.

The change was introduced by UEFA in an attempt to allow managers to have more flexibility within their squad for a major final, and Klopp is expected to name the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Rhian Brewster and Adam Lallana in his squad to face Spurs.
