Liverpool are thought to be tracking Sporting CP midfielder Idrissa Doumbia after the Ivorian’s impressive performance against the Reds in pre-season.
That’s according to Portuguese outlet Record, cited by Live 4 Liverpool, who claim that the Reds have contacted the Portuguese giants over the 21-year-old.
The defensive-minded midfielder is thought to be a potential signing for the future, with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp currently content with his midfield options ahead of the new season.

Doumbia played 76 minutes against Liverpool on Thursday as the two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Yankee Stadium in the Reds’ final game of their US Tour.
The powerful midfielder stood out during the encounter, with Reds officials now set to keep a close eye on the youngster to watch his development.
The Ivory Coast U-23 international joined Sporting CP from Russian side Akhmat Grozny in January and has a £53 million release clause, a fee Liverpool may well have to meet in the future if they wish to bring the midfielder to Merseyside.
