Plenty of Liverpool fans have responded to the suggestion made by former Reds striker Stan Collymore that the club should look to sign Harry Kane in the summer.
Collymore believes that, in order to maintain pace with current league leaders Manchester City next season, Liverpool should look to sign either Kane or Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski, pleading with the club to “put in a bid” for the England captain in his column for The Mirror.
At the start of the season, off the back of a resounding Premier League title success and having added Diogo Jota to their ranks, the Reds seemed blessed in the striking department.
However, with Roberto Firmino suffering a crisis of confidence in front of goal, Jota’s lengthy injury layoff and the usually prolific Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah going through dips in form, there is a growing feeling that reinforcements could be necessary.
With Liverpool having been treated in the past to some of the most prolific strikers the league has seen, Kane would match up based on his stats alone – although seemingly not enough to appease some of the Anfield faithful…
