The Austrian, who is adept at playing in numerous positions, is out of contract in July and the defending Premier League champions are in contention to land the 28-year-old.
Alaba will bring the curtain down on a glittering nine-year stint at Bayern after rejecting the chance to stay with the Bavarian giants, but the Reds face competition from Real Madrid for his signature. Agresti has claimed that Liverpool have offered the Austrian a contract worth €10m (£9m) a year to sign for the Anfield club.
Signing Alaba on a free in the summer in normal circumstances would be seen as a great piece of business by the Reds, but with the current centre-back crisis at the club, many Kopites would like to see him being signed posthaste. One believes that the Austrian, who can also play in midfield, would be a ‘perfect replacement’ for Gini Wijnaldum, whose own contract situation remains in deadlock.
