Carragher makes hilarious dig at Neville after Man United lose to Man City

Jamie Carragher produced a hilarious tweet to Gary Neville on Wednesday night, following Manchester United’s defeat to Manchester City.

Liverpool’s arch-rivals were dumped out of the Carabao Cup at the semi-final stage, losing 2-0 at home to their local adversaries.

Much has been made of United being ‘joint top’ of the Premier League currently, even though they are clearly second on goal difference.

Neville himself has claimed as much on Twitter, giving Carragher the perfect ammunition on Wednesday.

After the United loss, the Liverpool legend took to the social media platform to post a photo of a happy Neville, with the caption: ‘Joint semi finalists!’

It was a brilliant comeback from Carragher, as the surprise friendship between him and Neville continues.

There was a time when the idea of them getting along and poking fun at each other seemed unthinkable, as they angrily went toe-to-toe in Liverpool-United clashes.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side’s defeat again highlighted why City are the only team the Reds should really be worried about this season.

Pep Guardiola’s men have found their groove again, and with a winnable run of fixtures coming up, Liverpool need to stay in touch with them.
