A number of Liverpool supporters have been left frustrated after Michael Oliver admitted he should have sent-off Jordan Pickford against the Reds.
The Premier League were on the receiving end of some dreadful bad luck away to Everton back in October, as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.
Not only was Jordan Henderson harshly robbed of a last-gasp winning goal, but Liverpool also lost Virgil van Dijk to a likely season-ending injury.
It was Pickford’s awful tackle on the Dutchman that saw him suffer cruciate ligament damage, but because the centre-back was offside, both a penalty and red card weren’t given.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, referee Oliver has admitted he should have given the Everton goalkeeper his marching orders, in a moment that would have changed with game, with Liverpool already 1-0 up at the time.
These Reds fans have been showing their frustration at Oliver’s comments on Twitter, especially the length of time it has taken to admit he was wrong.
