Liverpool legend Nicol urges club to sign Sessegnon

Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has urged the club to sign versatile Fulham star Ryan Sessegnon this summer, HITC report.

The 19-year-old, who recently represented England at the Under 21 European Championships, is expected to leave Craven Cottage ahead of the new season.

Tottenham have been favourites to land the left-sided youngster for some time, with the Cottagers valuing Sessegnon at £40 million.

Spurs see the teenager as an ideal candidate to challenge Ben Davies next season, with current left-back Danny Rose expected to leave the club.

Liverpool have briefly been linked with the youngster themselves in recent months, with Jurgen Klopp open to the possibility of providing cover to star left-back Andrew Robertson.

And when asked as to who the Reds should target to cover Robertson, former Liverpool full-back Nicol said:

Ryan Sessegnon; He is not starting but he is there to push the others already in the first team (at Liverpool).

He would be there to make the starting eleven better. In two or three years time he would be pushing Robertson or whoever it is down the left-hand side.

The Reds have also been linked with Real Betis’ Junior Firpo, however, it remains to be seen as to whether or not the club are willing to spend big on a back-up signing.
