Liverpool loanee Kent suggests ‘possibility’ of Rangers stay

Liverpool loanee Ryan Kent has been impressive in the Scottish Premiership this season and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard wants to keep the youngster at the club.

Kent has previously been loaned out to Coventry, Barnsley, Bristol City and even had a spell in Germany, but never really found his feet at any of his previous clubs.

However, the Englishman has today been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year and the PFA Player of the Year awards, achievements that cap off a fantastic loan spell at the Scottish side.

According to Football Scotland, the 22-year-old has stated that is is a ‘possibility’ that he will be playing in a Rangers kit next season under the management of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

Back in April, Gerrard outlined his plans to keep Kent at Ibrox.

I won’t give up hope of keeping Ryan until I see him in a different kit. If you speak to Ryan he will tell you that he’s happy, that he’s enjoying his football, the fans are really enjoying him.

It is being claimed that the Liverpool man is valued at around £12 million and the Reds are unlikely to approve another loan spell. This means Rangers may have to resort in making a permanent offer for the youngster.

Nonetheless, Gerrard has said that Rangers are interested in the player and will be ‘at the table’ come the end of the season to discuss the services of the winger.

All we can do is make sure we’re at the table – and we will be at the table. I think it would be unlikely to be a permanent move. I would be more confident about getting him back on loan.

If Liverpool wanted to sell, then that’s out of my hands. The figure being spoken about… I’m out.
