Liverpool made an enquiry for Manchester City bound defender Aymeric Laporte, according to Guillem Balague.
The enquiry for the Athletic Club player came as the club reportedly looked for alternative options to Virgil van Dijk, who has obviously since joined the Reds.

It’s thought the Frenchman has a release clause of £57million but Liverpool were put off by that valuation.
Jurgen Klopp has been keen to add to his defensive ranks since last summer, where a very public and prolonged pursuit of Van Dijk ended in failure and disappointment.

Six months later, Klopp got the former Southampton man for a hefty fee – nearly £20million less than Laporte’s release clause, however.
It looks likely that Man City will pay the asking price for the centre back, taking the opportunity to strengthen what some may argue as their weakest point – defence.
