Liverpool are monitoring Theo Walcott’s contract situation, as the winger and parent club – Arsenal, struggle to come to an agreement.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Rodgers is still a massive admirer of the 26 year-old. Liverpool originally made clear of their interest back in 2013, but the England international signed a new deal with the Gunners.
The Telegraph say that Rodgers is having to look around for options due to the Raheem Sterling contract ‘saga’, which seems to have dragged on for years.
However, the interest could turn into something more even if Sterling does sign his new contract. Mario Balotelli’s Liverpool career is still in doubt and could have an enormous role to play in this.
The Express say that Walcott wants a pay rise in his new contract with Arsenal which is proving to be difficult and he wants reassurances that he will play every week. Liverpool are keeping a close eye on any developments in the contract negotiations.
Walcott could potentially assess his options in the summer when the season is over and see how much football he plays before the seasons comes to its conclusion. Could Walcott, a boyhood Liverpool fan, be on his way to Anfield?
