Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group have reportedly played a part in the group pushing for a Premier League investigation into Manchester City’s transfer activity.
City have allegedly breached Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations and UEFA announced on Thursday they would be launching an enquiry into reports from German outlet Der Spiegel; the Premier League followed suit just 24 hours later.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool along with Crystal Palace raised concerns over the reports of financial cheating, whilst Arsenal, Bournemouth, Fulham and Manchester United also have American stakeholders.

A Premier League statement yesterday read:
The Premier League has previously contacted Manchester City to request information regarding recent allegations and is in ongoing dialogue with the club. The League has detailed financial regulations and strong rules in the areas of Academy player recruitment and third-party ownership. We are investigating these matters and will allow Manchester City every opportunity to explain the context and detail surrounding them.
FSG chief John W Henry has previously explained that the arrival of FFP into football played a pivotal role in his decision to buy Liverpool back in October 2010.
Jurgen Klopp himself remained as quiet as he could on the situation when asked in his pre-Burnley press conference, but insisted he’s a big fan of “fair competition.”
