Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez could be on his way to Anfield this summer, as Liverpool are reportedly poised to meet the striker release clause.
Gomez was linked with a move to the likes of Liverpool, West Ham and Tottenham in January, though Celta were keen to keep hold of their star man until the end of the season as they attempt to avoid relegation.
The 22-year-old has scored 13 goals in La Liga this season and the Reds are said to be ready to meet his £43million release clause this summer, according to The Guardian.
Spurs and West Ham are also prepared to match his release clause, as the race for the striker heats up.
Celta will almost certainly lose Gomez if they are relegated from the Spanish top flight this season, and they currently find themselves just three points clear of the drop zone with one league game remaining.
