Liverpool on red alert for Aubameyang

Lethal Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has put Europe’s top clubs on alert, after telling the German club that he feels the time is right for him to move on, according to a Daily Mirror report.

The Gabon hitman, who was top scorer in the Bundesliga last season with 30 goals, has been linked with numerous European giants including Liverpool, where his ex-Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp may be keen for a reunion.

Aubameyang raised questions about his future following the final game of the Bundesliga season, when he responded to being asked whether he would stay at Dortmund next year by only saying: “We will see. I will decide next week.”

Next week has now come, and it seems to have brought bad news for Dortmund fans as Bild report that the 27-year-old has told club executives of his desire to leave this summer.

Bidding for Aubameyang is expected to start at around the £55million mark: a figure unlikely to put off other suitors such as PSG, Real Madrid and both Manchester clubs. With Liverpool reportedly ready to splash similar sums on the likes of Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk, if boss Klopp is determined to reunite with his former protege then Anfield chiefs could green light another record-breaking deal.
