This summer transfer window has already seen Dutchman Georginio Wijnaldum depart the club for a move to PSG.
His departure has left a hole in the club’s midfield given his importance during his time at Anfield.
With that comes the agonising and lengthy task of trying to replace him ahead of next season.
A number of players have been linked with a move, namely Youri Tielemans, Saúl Ñíguez, and Florian Neuhaus.
However, one of the more concrete rumours has surrounded Portuguese and Lille midfielder, Renato Sanches.
The 23-year-old has been linked heavily with the club over the last few months with him impressing at Euro 2020.
Recently, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has provided another update on Liverpool’s approach for Sanches.
Empire of the Kop reports the journalist stating that Liverpool are prepared to sell players to raise funds for a move.
Sanches has a current market value of £27million according to Transfermarkt.
However, French-based journalist Matt Spiro recently reported that back in January, Lille placed an €80million asking price on Sanches.
As the journalist also states, it is unlikely that their stance will have changed given his performances this summer…
Despite this, Romano seems to believe that the Reds are happy to lose players to fund the move.
One thing for sure is that the club has plenty of talent at its disposal to raise sufficient funds.
Just a month ago it had been reported that the club hoped to raise £50million from the sales of Divock Origi, Harry Wilson, and Xherdan Shaqiri.
This along with the money they would save on wages is a fantastic start if their interest in Sanches is concrete.
