Liverpool join Everton in race to sign Ezri Konsa

Liverpool and Everton are set to battle it out for the signing of Charlton youngster Ezri Konsa according to the Mirror.

The 20-year-old is thought of as the best young defender in the league by his manager at Charlton, Karl Robinson.

The League one side have said that they will allow the player to leave for £5 million after winning the World Cup with England under 20’s during the summer.

If the Reds were able to lure the player to the club he would join fellow Charlton graduate Joe Gomez at the club following his arrival a couple of seasons ago. His progression into the first-team will certainly be a case study for Konsa to take note of before making his final decision.

Everton look to have a head start with signing the player after signing Ademola Lookman last year and also sending some scouts to watch his most recent match against Blackburn Rovers.

A move to a club at Liverpool or Everton at this stage of his career wouldn’t make too much sense as he wouldn’t play to often and would most likely end out going on loan to the football league.
