Liverpool still holding out hope for Goretzka

Liverpool are still holding out hope of beating German champions Bayern Munich to the signing of Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Jurgen Klopp’s side think that the player is still yet to fully commit to any side and remain hopeful of beating Bayern to sign the player, who is out of contract this summer.

It was reported over the Christmas period that Bayern had agreed a deal for the player for the summer but it now appears that the Reds will have the chance to make contact with the player’s representatives to discuss a move.

The 22-year-old is very highly thought of in Germany and it appears to be a two-horse race between Bayern and Liverpool to sign the player.

The Reds are keen on a move for the player following the departure of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona and the uncertainty surrounding Emre Can’s future, with the German likely to leave for Juventus at the end of the season.
