Trent Alexander-Arnold believes that Liverpool’s Champions League loss in Kiev last year has prepared his side for success in Saturday’s clash against Tottenham.
Unlike last year, Liverpool come into this years final as favourites, following an agonising 3-1 loss to European heavyweights Real Madrid in Kiev. The Spanish side were a completely different side to the team we saw last season, though, and losing Mohamed Salah early on for the Reds was also a big blow and added to their nightmare.
However, Alexander-Arnold believes that Liverpool have learned a lot from last years final and that it could actually be a great motivational tool, to make sure the same doesn’t happen in tonight’s match, according to the Independent.
This season, I think we learned a lot from the game. It’d be daft to forget what happened last season and start afresh. I think we’ve proven why we’re such a good side and it’s because of the experiences that we’ve had so far and we’ll use them as motivation tomorrow. Personally I don’t want to feel how I felt last season in Kiev.
We’ve matured as a team, we’ve shown how we can win games, how we can hold onto 1-0 leads, we keep clean sheets better.
