Liverpool will only spend £20m on a new forward

Liverpool are looking to spend no more than £20 million this summer on a new forward.

According to reports from the Mirror, as cited on the Metro, Jurgen Klopp is still planning on adding to his front line, despite the success that his front three enjoyed last season.

The report claims that Klopp will prioritise someone who is similar to last summer’s signing Xherdan Shaqiri, a player who can play in various positions, while also not someone who will be demanding to play each week ahead of the likes of Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane.

Both Mane and Salah are involved in the African Cup of Nations this summer and Klopp is aware that he might need a quality back-up to start the new season.

In the modern market, £20 million may not be enough to secure the calibre of player that Klopp is after, meaning the club’s recruitment team will certainly have their work cut out this summer.
