Lyon president confirms Nabil Fekir wants summer move

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that star midfielder Nabil Fekir wants to leave the club this summer, the Mirror report.

The 25-year-old almost made a £53m move to Anfield last summer, however, a proposed deal to Merseyside collapsed in the final stages and the midfielder remained in France.

Following another impressive individual campaign, the Reds have briefly been linked with reigniting their interest in Fekir, with Lyon hoping to receive £45m for the midfielder.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham are also showing interest in the player, according to French outlet Le Parisien, cited by HITC, with Spurs looking to bring in multiple additions over the summer.

And talking to the club’s official website, cited by the Mirror, Aulas confirmed Fekir wants to depart the club this summer but revealed the club have had no official offers regarding the playmaker.

His preference is towards a departure. We are open to discussions.

We have no news.

We are waiting for proposals in the coming days but for the moment we do not have any.

Jurgen Klopp appears to be looking elsewhere for possible additions for his midfield, however, the German will more than likely be keeping a close eye on the Frenchman, especially considering he has just 12 months left on his current Lyon deal.
