Schalke defender Malick Thiaw has hinted that a move to Liverpool could appeal, admitting it is always nice to have big clubs wanting to sign you.
Jurgen Klopp is having to tackle an injury crisis at the moment, with Joel Matip his only fit, experienced centre-back.
Both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are long-term absentees, while auxiliary defender Fabinho isn’t definitely available for Sunday’s visit of Leicester City.
Thiaw has been linked with a switch to Liverpool in the past, but recent reports also stated that the Reds continue to monitor his progress.
Although nothing concrete has emerged in recent days, the 19-year-old told Schalke TV [via Sport Witness] that it is flattering be linked with moves to big clubs:
Of course you’re happy when big clubs are after you, but it was actually clear to me that I would stay at Schalke.

Although some reports suggest Klopp could be happy with his defensive options moving forward, the need for a January addition is still great.
Thiaw could be perfect in that respect, not coming in as a regular, but possessing the quality to fill in at times.
Despite his age, he is more experienced than Liverpool pair Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams, already enjoying two Bundesliga starts this season, not to mention four appearances in 2019/20.
At 19, Thiaw would also represent a long-term acquisition, rather than a quick fix during this defensive shortage at Anfield.
