Liverpool were linked with a move to sign Sevilla defender Diego Carlos a few weeks ago but if the Reds are still interested in the centre-back, then they may have to battle Manchester City for his signature.
As reported by James Ducker and Mike McGrath of The Telegraph, City have identified the 27-year-old as the player they’d like to come in to add to what has been an under-performing defence this season.
Sevilla only signed Carlos last summer for £13.6million, but they could be tempted to cash in on him if City, or any other club, are willing to make a significant offer.

If Dejan Lovren leaves Liverpool this summer then The Reds will need to go into the market to sign a replacement and Carlos could be a good option.
However, if City are in the mix too, then it might be difficult for Liverpool to complete a deal.
Pep Guardiola’s side will almost certainly be able to out-bid Liverpool for the defender and furthermore, he’s more likely to get regular game time at The Etihad as City are looking for a starter, whereas Liverpool seem to have settled on Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez as their preferred central defensive partnership.
