Max Kruse has revealed that he turned down a move to Liverpool this summer.
The Germany international’s contract at Werder Bremen expired at the end of last season, meaning he was able to move on a free transfer.
Numerous clubs were believed to have been in the race to sign Kruse, but Fenerbahce won the race for his signature, luring the experienced attacker to Turkey.
The forward has since discussed the level of interest that was shown by potential suitors in the early stages of the summer transfer window, revealing that Jurgen Klopp’s side got in touch over a possible switch to Anfield.

In an interview with beIN Sports Turkey, the former Werder star said:
During the transfer period, I’ve received lots of offers and one of them was Liverpool.
But I decided to join Fenerbahce because I believe I will be very happy there. I spoke with a lot of players during that period and I am happy about my decision.
Kruse had a good 2018/19 season, hence attracting interest from clubs across Europe. He found the back of the net 11 times in the Bundesliga, contributing with a further 10 assists.
Liverpool appeared keen to recruit the 31-year-old as a backup for Roberto Firmino, but he opted to complete a move to Fenerbahce instead.
