Mignolet’s wage demands make Napoli move unlikely

A move to Napoli for Simon Mignolet is considered unlucky because of the player’s wage demands.

According to Football Italia, the Belgian is unlikely to seal a surprise move to last season’s Serie A runners-up, despite falling out of favour at Anfield.

Napoli made a loan bid to sign the goalkeeper, but it required Liverpool to pay some of the player’s wages, so the move was rejected.

The Partenopei are considering their options as they seek a new experienced number one this summer.

Guillermo Ochoa has been Carlo Ancelotti’s first-choice transfer target this summer, but the club are stuck in negotiations with Standard Liege for the player.

Mignolet and Tottenham’s Michel Vorm have been discussed as possible alternatives.

The Belgian international is set to become Liverpool’s third-choice behind Loris Karius and Alisson this season and could look to move on to find regular playing time.
