David Moyes wants to take out-of-favour Liverpool striker Fabio Borini to Real Sociedad, according to Spanish news outlet Marca.
The 24-year-old is expected to leave Liverpool this summer, as the Reds have signed Danny Ings, welcomed Divock Origi back from his loan spell and met Christian Benteke’s release clause.
Forwards Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert are also still on the Anfield club’s books, and Borini is way down the pecking order.
A number of Serie A sides have been linked with Borini, particularly Lazio, who were at one point the favourites to land him.
But Real Sociedad have supposedly started to make a move to sign Borini as ex-Manchester United manager Moyes looks to recruit the Italian.
Sunderland took Borini on loan for the 2013-14 campaign, and the player then had the chance to move to the Stadium of Light permanently last summer, but he refused the move after Liverpool had accepted a reported £14m bid.
He also rebuffed Queens Park Rangers so that he could knuckle down and try and force his way into Brendan Rodgers’ plans.
But Borini was restricted to 12 Premier League outings last term, mainly off the bench, and scored just one goal.
The former Chelsea youngster has netted just three times in all competitions for the Reds since arriving from Roma in 2012.
