Newcastle are interested in signing Liverpool forward Xherdan Shaqiri this summer and the Magpies have already been in contact with the player’s agents to sound out his interest in a potential move to St James’ Park, according to a report from the reliable Dominic King of the Daily Mail.
Shaqiri is looking for a move away from Liverpool this summer as he wants to play more often and it looks like Newcastle are ready to offer the Swiss star the chance to move up north.
According to the report, Shaqiri will be allowed to leave Liverpool if a suitable bid is made and it looks like Newcastle could make such an offer if the proposed Saudi takeover of the club is completed as expected.

Shaqiri has a combined 22 goals and 18 assists in his Premier League career so far, for both Stoke and Liverpool and whilst he hasn’t been a regular player for The Reds, he has had some big moments in a Liverpool shirt, such as the brace he scored to help the Reds beat Man United 3-1 at Anfield last season.
It looks like Liverpool are ready to move on from the Switzerland international and if Newcastle’s bid is suitable, it’ll likely be accepted.
Liverpool will then need to decide if Jurgen Klopp has enough players in his squad to cover for the absence of Shaqirir or if they’re going to bring in another player to replace him.
