According to Pete O’Rourke, Nottingham Forest are looking to sign Liverpool full-back Jon Flanagan on loan.

Flanagan has failed to hold down a starting place at Liverpool in recent years with the arrivals of Nathaniel Clyne and Joe Gomez, as well as the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold, whilst Flanagan has been recovering from injury and been on loan at Burnley.

Liverpool fans will remember Flanagan from his outbreak season in 2013/14, where Liverpool were very close to winning the Premier League. The now 25-year-old’s performances were very classy and he looked like he’d cemented a squad place under Brendan Rodgers.
However, after a horrid injury, Flanagan has failed to recapture that form at Liverpool, nor on loan at Burnley. He’s currently under the cloud of an assault charge, where the defender will have to carry out community service as punishment for his prosecution.
A move away from the area, prompting a fresh start, could be just what Flanagan needs.
