Ojo set to be involved

Ahead of tonight’s crucial Champions League game vs. Basel, reports suggest Sheyi Ojo could be involved in Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

The 17-year-old has been at Liverpool since 2011, after he secured a move to Merseyside from MK Dons. This season is his first in the under-21s and it’s fair to say he’s taken to it well.

His hard work and impressive displays now look like giving him an opportunity on the bench, and potentially get him his debut for the senior team. Ojo is no stranger to the first team having trained regularly at Melwood, and he’s also travelled to many of the senior team’s latest games, but hasn’t yet been named in the 18.

He’s a pacey, tricky attacker, and has shades of Daniel Sturridge about him. He’s direct, similar to Raheem Sterling, and has scored goals throughout the U18s and U21s.

It will be a great occasion for Ojo, if he is to be on the bench tonight, but it also shows some disgruntlement from Rodgers to his other players. After the heavy expenditure in the summer, Ojo being on the bench leads to many more conclusions being made about the personnel targeted.
