Oxlade-Chamberlain to be fit for start of next season

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected be fit for the start of next season after suffering a knee injury in Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final clash against Roma last night, the Mirror reports.

Oxlade-Chamberlain underwent a scan on his knee on Wednesday and his injury is not believed to be as serious as it was first thought.

The player was stretchered off in the first half of the 5-2 victory over Roma after going down holding his knee following a tackle on Aleksandar Kolarov.

However the England international is still expected to be unavailable for Gareth Southgate’s World Cup campaign this summer.

Jurgen Klopp had spoken after the game about the injury sustained by the midfielder who has been highly impressive in recent weeks:

Oxlade, it’s probably a really bad injury.

If we can say that already before the scan, that’s never good news so that means for us it’s a massive blow, of course.

We have still a few very important games to go and the squad doesn’t get bigger in the moment, so we obviously need to be creative in the next few games.
