Oxlade-Chamberlain’s wage demands could scupper Liverpool move

News is emerging that Liverpool have hit a wall in brining £25 million target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Anfield.

The Daily Star have claimed that the England international’s wage demands are among a few that the Merseyside club are not prepared to meet.

Firstly, Jurgen Klopp is unable to guarantee him regular first team football with the side containing several options in the middle of the park in both the central midfield and wing areas, especially with the arrival of Mohamed Salah last week.

One other factor is the club’s relationship with the Arsenal man’s agent, Aidy Ward. He was a major factor behind Raheem Sterling’s move to Manchester City in 2015. The board are not keen on his pressing and arduous negotiating traits.

The hammer blow, however, may be his wage requests. Already on a reported £80,000 a week, the Ox wants an increase in his wage – something the Reds are not prepared to do. The Liverpool Echo have claimed that Klopp may be now prioritizing other players on his wish-list amidst this hurdle.

Meanwhile, Oxlade-Chamberlain still hasn’t renewed terms with Arsenal. The 23 year-old has made 194 appearances for the London outfit, scoring 30 times in all competitions.
